In association with Auckland Council I have designed The Faraway Tree, which is an interior refit for the Grey Lynn Public Library. The Faraway Tree was inspired by my childhood experiences when reading a book and being transported to another world within the story. Whether it was a castle, outer-space, under the sea or an enchanted forest I was fully immersed in exploring and experiencing a new adventure. I was wanting to recreate the magic feeling in real life and transform the Grey Lynn Library into a fantasy world that exists inside many story books. I wanted to make the experience accessible to people of all ages, not just children. The name of the project ‘The Faraway Tree’ comes from one of my favourite series of books as a child by Enid Blyton.
